Halliburton Chooses Zanesville-Muskingum County

December 16, 2011-     The Board of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority, the economic development organization serving Zanesville and Muskingum County, voted today to enter an agreement to sell approximately 178-acres in the EastPointe Business Park to Halliburton Energy Services, Inc. (NYSE: HAL).

The agreement calls for a 60-day due diligence period before closing.  The company needs to complete some site evaluations first, and economic development incentives should be finalized in that time period.  While not a done deal, the Port Authority was required to authorize entering the contract in a public session prior to closing.

“Today we took an important step toward consummating a deal, and we are excited about the prospects of having the jobs and investment from a company with the stature of Halliburton in our community,” Port Authority Executive Director Mike Jacoby said.

Houston-based Halliburton has indicated to the Port Authority it intends to develop an operations hub on the site to serve customers in the Utica Shale play.  An incentive application filed with the Port Authority projects the company will create 300 new jobs in three years.

The property being sold is part of the EastPointe Job Ready Site.  The site features a 100-acre graded and compacted pad and all utilities.  “Through the foresight of the community and with the help of the State of Ohio, we think we have created a site unparalleled in eastern Ohio,” Jacoby said.  “We have high hopes that Halliburton will use it to the fullest potential and possibly become an anchor for even more economic spin-offs in the region.”

If the deal closes, Halliburton will be the third Fortune 500 Company to locate in the EastPointe Business Park.

When Halliburton is ready, job candidates should apply through the Muskingum County Opportunity Center at (740) 454-6211 or 1-888-408-WORK.
