Ideal Location
Ohio's Midwest location is a good choice for
manufacturers and distributors needing to move
products or people from coast to coast. Muskingum
County further builds on Ohio's logistical advantage
by offering direct interstate, rail and air access.
Highway Transportation
Interstate- 70 runs through the heart of Muskingum
County, providing direct access to one of the most
important east-west corridors in the nation. Other
major interstates are nearby adding to the ease of highway
transportation.
Dollar General operates a 1.2 million square foot
facility located in the EastPointe Industrial Park, less
than three miles north of an I- 70 interchange. This
enormous facility, with 170 truck docks, supplies
products to nearly 1,000 retail stores in seven states.
Multi-Modal Advantages
Several Muskingum County companies enjoy the multimodal
advantages of highways and rail service. Nestle
Purina, Greif Brothers Corporation, AK Steel
and the New Bakery Company of Ohio, Inc. -a
subsidiary of Wendy's International, all utilize trucks
and railcars to receive and ship products. Four
railroads
provide freight service in Muskingum County.
Air Transportation
Air travel is the final piece of Muskingum County's
transportation network. Zanesville Municipal Airport's
two 5,OOO-foot runways easily accommodate corporate
jets. Charter service is also available. For commercial
air service, Port Columbus International Airport is less
than an hour west of Zanesville.
