“Job Ready Site” makes progress toward completion |

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – One of Ohio’s “Job Ready Sites” in EastPointe Park is showing significant progress toward completion during this construction season. Grading of the first 104 acre pad is underway, and three other pads have been designed for the 300 acre site. New roads are also under construction, water and sewer lines are in the process of being installed, and a rail spur will soon be extended to the site.
EastPointe is a 1,200 acre business park in Washington Township. The Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority owns and markets EastPointe as a mixed use manufacturing and distribution park. The Job Ready Site (JRS) designation came with a $4 million grant from the state to install public infrastructure in the park. The grant was one of 18 awarded under the new program, which is funded by the Third Frontier bond initiative passed by Ohio voters in 2005.
The state created the Job Ready Site status to enlarge its inventory of sizable, ready to occupy development sites around the state. Having prepared sites was deemed critical by state officials in order to compete successfully for large economic development projects.
Jerry Nolder, Executive Director of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority, which owns and markets EastPointe, says that the site will soon be ready for business projects. “We are beginning to market the development sites within the JRS,” said Nolder. “We expect a great deal of interest because these sites will be ready to go, fully served and perfectly located.”
EastPointe has the advantage of close proximity to eastern Ohio’s transportation networks. I-70 is approximately two miles away, rail access is on site, and the local airport is five minutes away. Other park occupants are Avon Products Distribution Center, Dollar General Distribution Center, Wendy’s New Bakery of Ohio, and the Bilco Company.
